This long-neglected “bumping post” will be refurbished and relocated to the end of the depot display track.

The continued interior restoration of ATSF caboose No. 2259 plus other improvements to the Depot Train Display require ongoing financial help from the public. Although the City of Bartlesville owns the display, virtually all funds invested in this attraction have come from private donations. Looking ahead, future improvements include the addition of an end-of-track “bumping post” and the extension of the train with another era-appropriate freight car (yes, there’s room for one more!)

To date, nearly $300,000 in donations has been invested in the Locomotive 940 project. Great appreciation is extended to the project’s early donors including the Bartlesville Rotary Foundation, The Lyon Foundation and ConocoPhillips. Most donations have come from individual contributors and from ticket sales of the annual Bartlesville Oil Flyer excursion train. The project also has benefited from several generous in-kind donations from local businesses as well as the ongoing cooperation of the City of Bartlesville, which has provided equipment and labor for certain tasks.
